Server Management Services LLC has an opening for the position of Systems Engineer (Ref# SE15SP) to work in Irving, TX and various unanticipated locations throughout the U.S.  Job Duties:  As part of a team, install, configure, analyze, and support systems hardware and/or software including physical and virtual servers.  Responsible for the installation, configuration, and implementation of VMware and associated virtualization technologies along with building and configuring the new virtual machines in Windows environment.  Support user accounts, swap memory, security, disk space, and process monitoring the servers.  Perform regular backups of servers to increase reliability and avoid data loss.  Support and administer Active Directory and Microsoft Office applications.  Provide physical to virtual migration planning and execution.  Monitor the system performance and capacity and provide periodic system status reports to department management.  Develop operating procedures for system administration activities including system monitoring, performance tuning, backup/recovery, server architecture design, and system maintenance.  Troubleshoot Windows and VMware servers and OS (operating system) issues and ensure timely resolution of server issues.  Provide technical support for incident response and reporting and provide on-call support as needed.  Work with a variety of operating systems protocols and tools, depending on the type of platform or application to be administered.  Escalate issues to management in a timely manner with appropriate information regarding risk and impact.  Use of VMware ESX, VMware vSphere, VMware vCenter, Kubernetes, Docker, Puppet, Chef, Ruby, Shell Scripting, Python, Perl, Git, Maven, Jenkins, Azure, AWS, ServiceNow, Active Directory, IIS, Windows, UNIX, and Linux.  Travel and/or relocation required.

Requirements:  This position requires a Master’s degree or foreign academic equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.  Plus 6 months of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.  Position requires 6 months of experience with installation & configuration of Windows servers; VMware ESX and Active Directory.  40hrs/week.
