Server Management Services LLC has an opening for the position of Systems Engineer (Ref# SE111VT) to work in Irving, TX and various unanticipated locations throughout the U.S.  Job Duties:  As part of a team, install, configure, analyze, and support systems hardware and/or software including physical and virtual servers.  Responsible for VMware server installation, configuration, and administration.  Maintain hardware and software in Windows server environments, including VMware host, clusters, servers, and virtual machines, interfacing with different vendors.  Involved in troubleshooting issues related to VMware.  Work on VMware clustering including HA (High Availability) and DRS (Distributed Resource Scheduler) clusters.  Involved in standardization of data protection across different environments, including centralized recovery and scheduling and optimization of backup jobs.  Provide Active Directory migration, upgrades, disaster recovery, troubleshooting, and support.  Conduct pre-migration checks on servers running on Windows and Linux.  Install and troubleshoot patches on ESX hosts and virtual machines.  Provision, build, install, configure, upgrade, and support Windows servers on both physical and virtual machines to ensure server compliancy as part of the build process.  Troubleshoot network issues and resolve slow performance between SAN network and VM networks.  Apply OS (operating systems) patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities.  Perform daily system monitoring and backup operations, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs.  Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions.  Use of VMware ESX, VMware vSphere, VMware vCenter, VMware NSX, ServiceNow, PowerShell, Active Directory, IIS, Windows, and Linux.  Travel and/or relocation required.

Requirements:  This position requires a Master’s degree or foreign academic equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.  Position requires completion of graduate-level academic coursework or research in Operating Systems.  40hrs/week.
